The Bargain Box and the Bargain Box Furniture Store are owned and operated by Christ Episcopal Church as part of its ministry to serve the Community of Cody and the surrounding area. This goal is also accomplished by providing low-cost, quality items to individuals and families. We encourage recycling of quality used goods and the creative utilization of discarded merchandise. A voucher program exits for emergency needs and a free bin is available.
The stores are supported by generous and continuos donations received from local individuals, families, businesses and organizations. These donations take the form of new or used merchandise, supplies, services and labor.
A wide variety of affordable and quality merchandise is continually offered, including a complete assortment of clothing, furniture and household items, collectable and antiques, domestics, craft and sewing supplies, books, records, tapes and CD's, toys and games, jewelry and accessories and quality clothing for all ages. New items are added to all departments daily. The Bargain Box has sales and bargain racks. Twice yearly, spring and fall, our "Bag Sale" enables us to empty the store and to restock with the appropriate season's clothing.
We have attempted to change the typical thrift store image by making these stores clean, pleasant, bright, fun, creative and appealing to all ages of thrift-minded shoppers. We want to honor all persons -- the giver as well as the received, the workers as well as the shoppers, the elderly and the youth.
Donations may be left any time during store hours. Items left unattended encourage theft or are damaged by the weather. Receipts for tax purposes are available. Donations pickup for furniture can be arranged when it is not possible for you to bring large items to the furniture store. Call us to arrange a day and a time.
The positive use of recycling goods has been an aspect of the Bargain Box from its inception. In the final stage of the cycle, proceeds are used for community projects and beyond. In the last several years $40,000 a year has been made available through the discretion of the Mission Committee and the Vestry of Christ Episcopal Church. This is the creative use of God's gifts. |
